Conclusion of the Hyatt Plaza Rapid and Open Blitz Championships with Strong Participation

The activities of the Hyatt Plaza Chess Championships concluded on Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, 2025, at the Chess Training Center, where both events drew strong participation from distinguished players from Qatar and abroad.
Hyatt Plaza Rapid Chess Championship (Under 16)
Held on Friday, 16 May 2025, using a 7-round system with a time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
The final results were as follows:
1st Place: Rayan Mohammad Ferdous (Qatar) – 6.5 points
2nd Place: Pranav Neer – 6 points
3rd Place: Ashuth Narayanan – 6 points
16–17 May 2025
Hyatt Plaza Open Blitz Chess Championship
Held on Saturday, 17 May 2025, using a 9-round system with a time control of 3 minutes per player + 2 seconds increment per move.
The results were as follows:
1st Place: Grandmaster Viktor Bologan – 7.5 points
2nd Place: Grandmaster Zhu Xi – 7.5 points
3rd Place: Johan Jobsy – 7 points
The Qatar Chess Association praised the great success of both championships, highlighting the notable growth in Qatar’s chess community and the increasing interest in this intellectual sport.
The Association emphasized that such tournaments enhance players’ skills and motivate young talents to engage more deeply in the game.
